'Dreams Before Waking' musically embodies that misty, edge-of-consciousness moment of surfacing from the underworld of sleep into the perception of reality. DBW is the brainchild of Ray Price - a Welshman transplanted to the USA in 1993 after meeting his 'Anam Cara' or 'Soul Mate' at a magical Starhawk Samhain (Halloween) Spiral Dance event in San Francisco. Ray performs on electric dulcimer, percussion from around the world, bass and a wide array of ethnic and ancient instruments. His soulful vocals are at the center of many of the ensemble's creations. These songs draw on Ray's fascination for myth and the sometimes dark complexities of being human. As a website visitor recently observed: "This isn't the music of Britney Spears."

Michael Oster brings an ethereal quality to the music, using beautiful, electronically enhanced guitar parts, mandolin and percussion. Michael is a Massachusettes native who has relocated to the beautiful 'Ocean State' of Rhode Island. Expect hints of folk songs and rock music from Michael's playing.

Dreams Before Waking will take you on a journey of complex rhythms and original compositions as well as imaginative re-workings of dark and traditional English ballads.
